This page will tell you how to transfer QuickMile data from one Palm User  to another. 

QuickMile data is stored in a file named qmdata.qm.  If you have for some reason created a new user, and would like to transfer data from a previous user to the new user you will need to follow these steps:

  1. Back up the qmdata file for the old user using these steps:
    • Open the quickmile desktop. 
    • Select the old user. 
    • Select "Help/about QmDesk" from the menu. 
    • You will see the file path of the old quickmile data file: qmdata.qm.  
    • Using windows explorer, open that folder and copy the qmdata.qm file into a safe place.  
  2. Find out where the new qmdata.qm file is located, and copy the old file to the new folder
    • Open the quickmile desktop. 
    • Select the old user. 
    • Select "Help/about QmDesk" from the menu. 
    • You will see the file path of the old quickmile data file: qmdata.qm.  
    • Using windows explorer, open that folder. 
    • Copy the old qmdata.qm file to this new directory.  
  3. Verify that you've transferred the data: 
    • Open the quickmile desktop. 
    • Select the new user. 
    • You should now see the quickmile data for both the old user and the new user. 
  4. One way hotsync to update your palm. (Only do this step if you can see your data. This step will replace any data on your palm with the copy on the PC!)

    • Right click on the hotsync icon.  

    • Select Custom.

    • Select Quickmile.

    • Select Desktop overwrites the handheld

    • Hotsync. 

    • Your data should now be on the palm.
